CONCERTS: Every student who pays tuition is given a spot to perform on a recital (pending YouTube video submission). Concerts happen every weekday during the NCI, with an opening concert on Sunday evening. Concerts are at 4:15 PM and 7:15 PM each day, and feature a mix of visiting professionals, faculty performers, and student soloists/ensembles. The final concerts are on Friday in the afternoon and evening, and feature the cello ensembles that worked during their stay at NCI.

Once you’ve registered, you’ll be given instructions on how to submit a private YouTube video of your recital piece. This is not an audition! It is verification that you are ready to perform. NCI recitals take place in a packed auditorium of up to 200 people, so we want to be sure you have a piece that you’re ready to play. You’ll submit your piece, and we’ll place you on a recital with advance notice of your performance date.

NCI GROUND RULES

All children 12 and under must have an accompanying adult present at NCI to assist them between classes. All students staying in the Teen & Young Adult dorm must remain on the Pomona College campus at all times, under the supervision of the NCI RA staff.
No unregistered guests are allowed at the NCI.
Food and drinks may not be taken out of the dining hall.
We are guests of Pomona College. Please respect their property and belongings so we will be welcome in the future.
The afternoon recitals and evening concerts are NOT optional — they are part of your experience at the NCI. All students are expected to attend all concerts.

I release them from any expectation of confidentiality for my minor children and myself and attest that I am the parent or legal guardian of the children attending the National Cello Institute

The NCI reserves the right to send students who violate these Ground Rules home early WITHOUT monetary reimbursement.
